National Comittee on Trade Facilitation

First meeting of National Comittee on Trade Facilitation(NCTF) was held in New Delhi,headed by Cabinet Secretary P K Sinha to discuss ways for developing roadmap for implementation of WTOs trade facilitation agreement.

NCTF is a mandatory requirement under the WTOs Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA).It aims to develop the pan-India road map for trade facilitation.

National Unity Day

Government of India introduced 31 october,birth anniversary of Independent India’s first Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel(Bismarck of India)  as National  Unity Day. It was inagurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014. Observance of the day by the Home Ministry of India cites that the National Unity Day “will provide an opportunity to re-affirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity and security of our country". 

New Deputy Governor of RBI

Government appointed Viral V Acharyaa New York University Economics Professor as new Deputy Governor at the Reserve Bank of India. His appointment was cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. He will fill the post that fell vacant after Urjit Patel after he was made RBI Governor to succeed Rajan with effect from September 2016. The existing three Deputy Governors of RBI are S S Mundra, R Gandhi and N S Vishwanathan..
