The News of the World phone-hacking scandal on Wednesday claimed its biggest scalp yet when James Murdoch, Rupert Murdoch’s heir apparent, dramatically resigned as executive chairman of News International, publisher of The TimesThe Sunday Times and The Sun, amid fresh allegations that he attempted to cover-up the scandal.

Rs. 1,224 crore to up godown capacity


The Union Government has formed a comprehensive project to increase the storage capacity
of warehouse in Kerala State during the 12th Five Year Plan as part of the food security policy
of the UPA Government. Minister of State for Food and Consumer Affairs K.V. Thomas said
the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) would
set up warehouses with a storage capacity of 14.5 lakh tonnes of food grain at a cost of Rs.
1,224.9 crore within five years
