This year's World Food Prize will be awarded to Israeli scientist Daniel Hillel for pioneering a “radically innovative way of bringing water to crops in arid and dry-land regions.” This award was established by Nobel Peace Prize winner and Green Revolution champion Norman Borlaug. The first World Food Prize laureate was renowned Indian agricultural scientist Professor M.S. Swaminathan.
